Itinerary
Get ready to explore Kenya! Your East Africa Tours and Travel guide will greet you at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport. It's a quick one-hour drive (about 22 kilometers) depending on traffic, to your Nairobi city hotel. After checking in, the rest of the day is yours to relax and explore at your own pace.
Fuel up for adventure after breakfast! Our journey takes us to Mount Kenya National Park, where breathtaking views of the snow-capped peak await. After settling into your accommodation and enjoying lunch, we'll embark on an afternoon game drive.
Mount Kenya's diverse landscapes offer a haven for wildlife. Imagine lush bamboo forests and African rosewood teeming with elephants, leopards, duikers, elands, waterbucks, and even giant forest hogs! Birdwatchers will be in awe with over 130 recorded bird species to spot. As the day winds down, we'll return to our lodge for dinner and a restful sleep
After breakfast, we set off north towards Samburu National Reserve. This rugged, semi-arid region boasts spectacular scenery – a stark contrast to the lush areas we've explored so far. Arrive at our lodge in time for lunch, followed by a relaxing siesta to recharge for the afternoon's game drive. The mighty Ewaso Ng'iro River snakes through the reserve, creating a lush oasis that draws wildlife in droves. Samburu is a haven for elephants, particularly during the dry season when they use their tusks to unearth precious water from the riverbed. These waterholes become magnets for other animals, creating incredible wildlife viewing opportunities. After an unforgettable day, we'll return to our lodge for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.
Spend a full day exploring the wonders of Samburu. Enjoy morning and afternoon game drives in both parks, searching for wildlife in these diverse landscapes. Samburu boasts rare northern species like the gerenuk, beisa oryx, reticulated giraffe, Somali ostrich, and Grevy's zebra. Birdwatchers will be on the lookout for the palm nut vulture and vinaceous dove. Keep your eyes peeled for elusive leopards at dusk, adding an extra thrill to your safari adventure. Dinner and a cozy overnight stay await at your accomodation.
Optional activity: Visit Samburu Village
Refuel for a scenic journey south towards Mount Kenya! We'll enjoy brief game viewing opportunities along the way before reaching your luxurious tented camp at Sweetwaters for lunch. In the afternoon, gear up for another exciting game drive within the reserve. Ol Pejeta Conservancy is renowned for its abundance of plains game and the "Big Five," with the added bonus of endangered chimpanzees and rhino sanctuaries. After an exhilarating day, return to your camp for dinner and a restful overnight stay.
After breakfast, we hit the road for Lake Nakuru National Park! Along the way, we'll make a quick stop at Thomson's Falls to marvel at its breathtaking scenery. Upon arrival at Lake Nakuru, you'll have lunch and check into your comfortable accommodation.
The afternoon is dedicated to a thrilling game drive. The park's environment is incredibly welcoming, a perfect place to relax, unwind, and soak in the beauty of nature. Imagine breathtaking scenery with untouched forests offering a sense of renewal. We'll explore interesting spots like Baboon Cliff, Lion Hill, and the Mau Escarpment.
Lake Nakuru is a haven for wildlife viewing, boasting a diverse range of animals. Look out for prides of lions, cape buffaloes, waterbucks, warthogs, endangered Rothschild giraffes, black and white rhinos, Burchell's zebras, impalas, and even elusive leopards. Over 300 bird species call this park home, making it a paradise for birdwatchers. As the sun sets, we'll return to our lodge for a delicious dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Fuel up for another adventure after breakfast! Today, we'll depart for the legendary Masai Mara National Reserve. Our journey takes us through the awe-inspiring Great Rift Valley, eventually reaching the northernmost reaches of the Serengeti Plains. The Masai Mara is a haven for wildlife, perhaps the only place in Kenya where you can see such an abundance of animals, just like explorers did over a century ago.
Upon arrival at our lodge/camp, we'll be greeted warmly and enjoy a delicious late lunch. Afterward, get ready for an unforgettable afternoon game drive in this vast expanse teeming with life. Keep your eyes peeled for the "Big Five" – lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino, and leopard.
The Masai Mara's endless savannah grasslands stretch as far as the eye can see, providing a habitat for an incredible array of wildlife. Look out for the majestic black-maned lion, the elusive leopard, cheetah, Maasai giraffes, vast herds of elephants and rhinos, zebras on the move, wildebeest migrations, impalas, warthogs, gazelles, topis, waterbucks, and many more.
As evening approaches, we'll return to our lodge/camp to freshen up before enjoying dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.
Breakfast in the morning will prepare you for a full day of game viewing in the famous Masai Mara National reserve. You will carry packed lunch from the lodge and then head out in to the reserve for a whole day of spectacular game viewing. Look out for wildlife – big herds of lions, leopards, elephants, the elusive cheetah, Thomson’s gazelle, wildebeest, buffaloes, impalas, topis, spotted hyenas, zebras, baboons and the graceful giraffes. Enjoy a delicious picnic lunch amidst the breathtaking scenery, perhaps under the shade of an acacia tree or overlooking the snorting hippos in the Mara River. Your day will end in the evening as you will be transferred back to the lodge for dinner.
